Titanic the Musical

5th – 12th May 2018, 7.30pm
Monday 7th May performance in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
The Barn Theatre, Cirencester

When we think about RMS Titanic, we remember the tragedy on April 14th 1912, which caused the loss of 1,514 lives. What we tend to forget is that up until that moment 2,222 people (passengers and crew) were having the time of their lives, and were on the verge of living their greatest dreams. “Titanic the Musical” tells the real story of RMS Titanic’s maiden voyage, and the hopes, dreams and regrets of all on board, set to music and lyrics by Maury Yeston.

It originally opened on Broadway in 1997, and won 5 Tony awards, including“Best Musical”. It’s a real heart-warming tear-jerker, with beautiful symphonic melodies throughout.

Director Barry Austin commented “ever since first seeing the show I was blown away by the writing, and the effort that is required by the whole ensemble. The show’s power comes from the fact that you know what’s coming – it’s not a question of whether the ship sinks. Few ships are as “alive” today as when the Titanic sailed, and interest in her history continues. The backdrop, and the central character of the show, is the Titanic herself and the fate she suffers.”

Come aboard the ship of dreams and be plunged into an unforgettable performance of glamour, chaos and heroism in this heart-stopping and riveting ride through the final moments of Titanic’s fateful journey.
